Afternoon with Davis

So it has been raining forever!! I have had to cancel a couple photography sessions already because of the stupid rain! So needless to say, I have been going through picture with drawls. This afternoon was beautiful as the sun was just starting to set. Thank goodness Davis was here today because he is the only kid who hasn't yelled at me yet for taking their picture. I think he likes it though and cooperate with everything I ask him to do. Wish he would do that when I ask him to pick up his toys! Davis is a good kid and I love that we share a lot of the same interests...especially video games. We have spent many an hour playing Nintendo and the Wii. I think it is funny he likes to sit there and watch me play the "old school" Nintendo. I have to say I am pretty good at it. I love that he loves art and likes to draw and color. I am hoping one of these kids will share my passion for photography, it just may be Davis, he does have a knack for the arts, but he is only 6, so I will give it some time. Here are a few pics from today with Davis.

A Day with the Girls

My good friend Heather invited us to her in-laws summer home to do some all day scrap booking/crafting. So before I headed out there I had to come up with something to do, although I am sure I would have been happy just to hang out watching everyone else and take pictures. I never really did get a good shot of all 4 of my kids for Christmas, but decided I would use one of the goofy ones I took and start making some Christmas cards. So I needed to go to Treasury of Memories for some supplies. That store is amazing! I could have spent hours in there and there are so many different crafts I would like to try out. The have all their cool Christmas things displayed and I really want to try a few. But I stuck to the basics and headed out to meet the girls. It was so wonderful to hang out and chit chat! Everyone brought food, so there was some FABULOUS soups, and bread, and goodies. I really wish I could have spent all day there! I did get quite a few cards done before I left. As usual, I took some pictures. I think people are getting used to me in their faces all the time now.
Jen opening some wine...just kidding, its just some fancy water.

Maggie in the distance...I think she is going through my stuff..that's my spot... ;)

Here is my work space. Just a glimpse of my finished cards. I don't totally want to give them away before I mail them. And yes, photographer Brooke did develop pics at Walmart. I really needed them last minute!

Beka had all her ribbon stacked up, I just thought it was pretty.

My boys

Today Dane and I went to Gage's classroom to listen to some writings they had been working on. Gage wrote about his little brother Dane. It was so sweet to hear him read aloud to everyone about the day Dane was born. The phone call he received, going to the hospital and looking at him for the first time. Thinking he was so wonderful. The name we chose and just how special Dane is too him. I was tearing up over such beautiful things my big boy had written about his baby brother. Those two truly have a special bond. Gage has always been such a wonderful helper and is always, always there to cheer Dane up and play with him. It will be such a joy watching those two grow up together. Even though there are times when the kids overwhelm me, I can't imagine not having them. Yes a vacation from them is in order at times, but the world would be a dull place without the love and joy they bring me!

Sad to report....

It is with much sadness that I must report that I have NO vitamin D deficiency. The nurse called this morning to give me the news. I tried mightily to fake a happy "Oh that is fantastic". I guess it wont be mandatory to go here...

Or here....

Or live here...

I guess I will just have to live with the memories of last Aprils trip to Florida...

Sorry to those who planned on copying my doctors note. I do hate to disappoint! Maybe we will just have to plan a girls trip some winter, or one of us is going to have to become a doctor and fill various prescriptions for us.

More blood and gore. I cant take much more!

So as if yesterdays blood draw wasn't traumatic enough for me....Dane went ahead and split his chin open this morning. I am not sure exactly what happened, but he was at the table eating breakfast when I left to get the other kids stuff ready for school. I heard a bang and then some screaming. I ran to the other room and scooped him off the floor, doing the mommy thing..."Its all right, your OK, you just fell." He squirmed off my lap screaming, saying "no mommy, I have an owie." He lifted his head up and there was a huge open gash and of course bleeding all over. "Oh Shit, " I know I am not suppose to say that in front of the kids, but I knew he was going to have to get stitches. I called the doc, they said bring him right in. As we zoomed into town, I was teary eyed the whole way, thinking of the papoose they would most likely strap him into. The shot of numbing medicine. The sewing of the skin. Oh my poor baby!
Much to my surprise, it was not like that at all. He laid on the table so good while the wonderful nurse put numbing gel on his cut. We waiting for it to work and the doc came in and said they wouldn't have to use stitches that they could use special glue for the facial wounds. So easy! And Dane just laid there and smiled at the doctor! Such a peaceful doctor visit!
I am sooo done with blood and cuts and needles....please no more!

Vitamin D deficiancy

So I went in this morning for a check up at the docs office. I was telling the doc about some hormonal issues and my hair falling out thinking I may have some sort of thyroid problem. She told me NO, I was too young and it was normal a couple years back when I had it checked. She did say however that I most likely had a vitamin D deficiency. Lot of people here in the wonderful Pacific Northwest get it. Simple blood test to find out and then a magic pill to solve the problem... but my most favorite prescription she gave me was...

DOC- "Do you ever go anywhere sunny?"
ME - "Uh, no..I went to Florida almost a year ago."
DOC-"Well it might help if you went somewhere sunny for about a month during this part of the year."
ME-"Seriously? "
DOC- "Yeah, or at least for 2 weeks."
ME -"Seriously?"
DOC- "I think it would help a lot."
ME-"I think your gonna have to write me a note for my husband to believe that."
DOC-" No problem, I will give you a call when your results come back."

I really hope there is something wrong with me.

I went to get my blood test. I HATE needles, blood, anything to do with medical stuff. Makes me nauseous. I am a huge baby. So anyway, I wait for about 20 minutes until they call my name. I am in and out quickly, just a little prick. The gal puts the cotton ball on my owie and tapes it up. When I put my sweatshirt on, I don't realize but I pull the cotton ball off. While walking to my car, I feel something warm trickling down my arm and I look down and there is blood everywhere. (OK maybe not everywhere) I frantically look at the prick mark and blood is coming out and its all blue and puffy ( I am getting wheezy writing this). I start to go into panic mode. Oh my gosh, I am going to die! I am bleeding out! I pull my shoelace out and wrap it around my arm to stop the bleeding...Okay, just kidding there...I find the cotton ball and re apply. I have to bring myself back down telling myself that people lay on the ground for hours bleeding out and don't die. One little prick in the arm is not going to kill me. I made it home just fine and the bleeding has stopped.

Now I wait patiently for the doctor to call and tell me I must live in the Caribbean for a month or I will most surely die.
